When I try to bring in AVCHD files straight from the camera (Panasonic 140) I’m OK. However, Typically I back up the camera files to an external drive. Then import from that drive into FCP (Same routine with 7 or x) That way I know I have a good back up before I delete the files from the card.

It’s been a while, but I figured I would give X another go for a small project. I upgraded a second boot drive to ML and updated to X.0.5. Now I can import camera archives that are AVC-Intra (Panasonic HPX250) but not the AVCHD. I tried the same files on my Mac Mini running Lion (10.7.4) and FCX 10.0.4 and they work fine.

Has anyone else tried to import camera archives?

Haven’t had any issue with FCPX under Mountain Lion with AVCHD archives from my Sony FS100.

How did you create the archives?

So far I’ve only worked with original media, media direct copied from the camera to an external drive, and FCPX created Camera Archives. I haven’t got an AVCHD DMG file on hand to try.

Mountain Lion supports AVCHD directly in the Finder so at worst, you should be able to just browse to the .MTS files and load them straight into an event.

I copy my AVCHD file directly off the camera onto an external drive. At least in Lion and FCPX to inport them into FCPX I choose import from camera then at the bottom of the window choose open archive and then I can navigate to the AVCHD file stored on my external disk. Haven’t gone to Mountain Lion yet, since I don’t want to be on bleeding edge.
