  Optimize or not?

  I work mostly with DSLR h.264 footage and edit with proxy versions.

  When finishing, does it make a difference whether I export from the original media or if I optimize the files first? I generally do at least a little color correction on every clip.

  I normally go through and convert just the clips I’ve used, but is this an unnecessary step?
