  Identifying (labeling) clips used in the timeline

  With FCP 7, I’ve used labels to quickly identify in the browser which clips I’ve used in the timeline. Since labels are gone with FCP X, what’s the best way to do this? I’ve tried to assign Roles (added ‘Used” as role and assigned it to all clips in the timeline – via Select All > Modify > Assign Roles…). But that doesn’t seem to work as this doesn’t change the Roles of the clips in the viewer.

  Do I make sense?

  If yes, any ideas?

  In fcpx, things are independent from project to browser…it doesn’t ripple. I’m curious if there is a way to do this as well…I’d love to have a “used” rating in addition to rejected and favorite that is automatically applied to used portions…

  Not really (for these specific needs, unless I’m missing something). I’d like to quickly/easily see in the Event Library, which of the clips have been used in the timeline – and which have not.
