ok this is bugging me i have used compressor so many times for both dvd and youtube what i dont understand is why should a 12min final cut project should take 25hours to convert to youtube when sent to compressor?. i have a project in final cut x its 12 min long and some seconds, when i send it to compressor last night it was showing 8hours left and when i checked today its saying 25hours left 🙁 so frustrating for a 12 min video. Last week i worked on a 1920×1080 dvd video 1 and half hours long and took less than 5hours in compressor. any ideas?

I’ve experienced longer compress times when sending from FCP to compressor, but not this long. Is the project rendered? If you are encountering these kinds of delays and need a quicker fix, export your timeline to a QT file and bring it into compressor that way. Should hopefully take a lot less time. If it doesn’t, then looks like there could be other issues, perhaps with compressor’s pref files, etc…

You should seriously be able to make a YouTube h264 in about 20min from a 12 min file. If you can’t figure out compressor, just get Mpegstreamclip clip. Of course QTPro 7 is an option if you have access to that.
