7toX Sync Problems
Anyone have issues with syncing problems using 7toX? I took my FCP 7 sequences which I used to sync up separate audio to my video using markers where the clapper fell and the sound of it lined up.
I got all of the audio in sync, linked each clip’s audio and video in the sequence, then exported the entire project as XML. When using 7 to X on it, all of the compound clips that represented my syncing sequences were out of sync. I was really looking forward to cutting this project in X, but am not going to redo the syncing prices in X.
Any ideas?

Sorry that I don’t have an answer for you there. But, 7toX support is really good. They usually get back to me within a day or so. Send them the XML out of FCP7, if you haven’t already. Only issue is that they are limited in terms of updating the software because of the App Store restrictions. So it can take a week or so when they update the builds.

Actually yes. I got an email from Phillip really quick after sending an email. Hopefully a solution will be found.

Problem solved!. Greg Clarke from intelligent assistance sent me an email today. The problem seemed to be that my audio and video in my FCP 7 were linked (which i did after manually syncing). I was instructed to unlink the audio and video, then redo the 7toX process and voila – the same compound (representing my syncing sequence in FCP 7) that had the problem before now (when I opened the compound clip) was full of my synced AV as connected clips (audio connected to the video).

23.98 – using downrezed/transoded ProRes proxies made from 4K content exported from Red Cine Pro

Nope. I was shocked. Word on the street is that the rental house didn’t provide the adapter to record audio into the Red One MX. Otherwise I would have used pluralEyes or tried to see how good FCPX’s sync feature is. Oh well. Had to do it old school.

Did you sync in 7 or X?

I synced in 7. bing that it was manually done, I could have done it in X. Though I’ve used X before somethings I am still faster in FCP 7 on some things.

My guess is that your audio got “tagged” with the wrong frame rate in FCP7, therefore probably screwing up the rest of the XML transfer.
