  Ways for Sky Replacement

  Does anyone have any ideas to replace blown out skies? I’ve tried pulling a luma key and got pretty close but I still have some rough edges and some other things disappear. I’m using AE 6.5 as well.

  The shot is a tripod pan of an alleyway just before magic hour but the sky is completely blown out. The subject is running so the camera pans with her as she runs down the alley. The trees still have that orange coloring of sunset, and I already have the shot matchmoved. I’m just having trouble getting rid of the blown out sky and replacing it with the sunset matte painting.

  Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.

  Andrew Kramer has a video tutorial in the CreativeCOW library called Sky Replacement. You might get some ideas by watching it.
