new system set up
trying to follow advice on this article:

On my Mac Pro: One drive is using snow leopard and has AVID 6 and FCS. They seem to living side by side just fine. I have edited with both. Want to try FCP X on a separate partition and then again when I get Lion.
As he suggested, I have three partitions on one drive. I am now installing, trying to install, snow leopard on one partition with FCP X. First it took me a whole bunch of time to get a disc image of the install disc to install on the partition. I found a link that told how to find the install program from the disc image: Volumes/Mac OS X Install DVD/System/Installation/Packages/OSInstall.mpkg.
Seemed to install fine. However it is not showing in start up disc in system preferences or when I hold option key and restart. The partition under disc utility is listed as bootable.
