I shot a series of interviews with the Panasonic F100, had normal sound levels, checked the sound by camera playback, all checked out good. Brought the camera to FCPX to import from camera (the first time anyone has imported from camera in FCPX on this computer). I have always just copied the raw files from the memory cards onto my HD. Everything seemed to import great, and I quickly previewed the files without checking sound…bad mistake.

Upon revisiting the files for editing a few days later, I discovered no sound was on these clips…huh? And of course the memory cards were erased by then. I’ve searched my hard drive for two days and all night and can’t find any related sound files. The computer I’m using is shared by a few different people, so I don’t know everything about what’s running on it.

The .mov files that imported are labelled like this with an (id) at the end: 2012-02-23 17_14_28 (id).mov. Something tells me this has something to do with disconnected sound, no?

I pretty sure this computer does not have an archive program, but I’m not sure. I read on Cow that maybe the files could be archived, not sure where to look on that end.

    Can someone please advise?
    Thanks,
    Eric
