  Link audio to video (without sync track), compound clip or ?

  Hi all,
  Maybe I’m making this too complicated, but if I have a video clip with no audio at all, and an audio track from a separate recorder, is there any way other than compound clip to link/combine them in FCPX?

  Here’s why I ask… it seems that cutting a compound clip (like with the blade tool) just makes two independent copies of the compound clip, and changes made to one do not affect the original compound clip (and vice versa) or any other cuts made from the same compound clip.

  In my case I made a compound clip to link the video/audio, and then started cutting it into scenes for editing, but later I realized the sync was slightly off. I expected that fixing the sync in the original compound clip would fix it in all of the cuts, like when using a nested sequence in FCP7, but it looks like I have to go into every cut and perform the same changes.

  Is that right? I assume I’m doing something wrong…
