  • High Quality DVD export- How?!

I have been working on a documentary for months and now comes the time to export to DVD. I am using FCPx on a macbook pro.

I am trying to export the 1 hour and 11 minute movie to dvd. I can burn to dvd directly from FCP but it doesn’t turn out in HD so I have been choosing to export as an H.264 file which exports at about 6.55GB and burning from there. The trouble is I had to use dual layer discs and it created a data DVD (not playable in dvd player). Then I tried burning in iDVD on a single layer and it seemed to compress the file to a point where the picture seemed a little off. For some reason, in iDVD the project fit on a single layer.

Is there a better way to burn a high quality disc? I need to create one soon as my master for duplication.

    What am I missing?

DVD Video, which can be used by Players, is always SD only (in fact with mpeg2 compression).
Optical disks with HD content would be Blu-Ray.
    regards, Chris
