Widescreen matte or guides in viewer?
One of the things preventing me from using FCPX is not being able to set a custom resolution for sequences/projects. With FCP7 I used this to be able to quickly and easily reframe shots for 2.40:1 aspect ratios. I’d set the canvas to show wireframes and that would allow me to drag a clip up or down and frame within my 2.40:1 viewing area.
Since FCPX doesn’t have that ability, I’d be okay with some kind of matte or guides in the viewer. Is there a way to do this so I would be able to easily reframe shots?

It produces a matte (as a Title overlay) in as many different aspect ratios as you can think of.

Thanks for the suggestions. Simon, I think what you recommended is the easiest for me right now. Hopefully Apple will include something built-in at some point to make it even easier.
