  • XDCAM transfer and FCPX – no CODEC

This is strange. Im working both on Avid and FCPX (trial). I mostly shoot on EX1 and varoius DSLR. I cant get xdcam transfer to work (even though it used to work flawlessly with FCP 7 (wich was sold for reasonable price after crossgrade)). XDCAM Transfer is missing codecs – WHY? I have some footage on my harddrive wich was wrapped with old and good “log and transfer” into XDCAM EX 1080p VBR Apple codec and it imports just fine. Im aware of workflow with XDCAM files on FCPX but what has anyone encountered anything like this? I cant download codecs (Trasfer says they should be avalible via FCP version 6.02). What sorcery is this?

PS – Avid AMA and improt of xdcam works just fine

PPS – apperantly codec are availble on apple website – just I (wrongly) assumed that they should work automatilcy via FCPX

Pasted from an earlier reply. You need FCPx extra codecs and XDCAM Browser 2.0

    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4714#

You go to the Clip menu and select import into FCP. It does create a XLM file but if you select the .mov it imports into FCP X 10.0.3 just fine. My understanding is that the XDCAM Transfer is not going to be updated (EOL) and that the XDCAM Browser is the replacement.
