Upscaling to HD: I need some small tips
Hello everyone,
Been watching your wonderful community for a while now, and this is my first post here.
So I’m trying to upscale some footage to 1080 HD. The footage is in low quality at 360p.
Now I’m very aware that upscaling to HD won’t give me extra quality, it might even lose quality, but that’s not a problem. The video is an ad from the 70’s, and I won’t mind the crappy looks.
However, I want the maximum quality possible in the conversion, even though I know it’s not gonna be the same as a native HD footage taken from my a77.I tried using Compressor 4 yesterday, and these were my settings:
Apple ProRes 422 (HQ), rate 25 fps
Frame controls On; Resize filter Best, Deinterlaced Progressive Best, Rate conversion Best. Anti-alias set to 10 and Details to 5.
Frame Size is 1920×1080
Output file: 1min10sec .mov 1.42 gb.Any other pointers/tips/additions to give me? I’ll be using FCPX to edit later. Unfortunately the new Magic Bullet Instant HD is still not compatible with FCPX, so I gotta do it on Compressor. And I don’t really care about the file size, as long at it’s reasonable of course.
Thank you in advance.
