Final Cut Pro Export Problem!!!!!! Need Assistance!!
Hello
So Im using Final Cut X, never really had a problems with it until this problem with a client
I shot 1920 X 1080 with my camera, playback is perfect in FCP but when exported i get this
Left Side of QT player
Right Side of QT Player
For my settings, I kept it at its Native form. It almost looks like the export is trying to stretch out these pixels on the left & right side of the screen
But if I shot 1920 X 1080 & exported at the same aspect ratio why do I get these funky vertical bars?
Can anyone help?

This looks like interlacing artifacts or at least something funky with field dominance. What’s your source footage from? Is it interlaced or progressive?

Double check that your project is set to 1080p and not 1080i.

If you are using a Canon Camcorder like the Vixia (not DSLR), you may be running into the same issue I did a while back. There is a bug in the way FCP X interprets the 1080p 29.97 (PF30) files from Canon. Even though you shot progressive, FCP X is mistaking it for interlaced and will then try to deinterlace it if placed in a 1080 progressive project (you will see it try to render your footage). This is why I was seeing artifacts and lacking sharpness in my projects.
I solved this problem by using ClipWrap and wrapping the .mts file(s) within a .MOV. Once this is done, FCP X reads the file correctly and will not try to render your files when added to the timeline. (I also now have the advantage of being able to preview and re-name my files before I start a new project.)

I actually converted my mts files into mov before I imported. My project settings are set at progressive and kept all my clips, aspect ratio at it’s native form. This is a real disaster and my client is not pleased with this setback

I believe someone ask earlier, but what camera did you shoot with?

What program did you use to convert or wrap the .mts files and what was the final file type? If you open these files in QuickTime Player what does the info say on them?

Also, can you grab a very small clip, maybe 5 seconds, and uploaded both the mts and covered mov here (use the floppy disk icon when you post).
I’m guessing the problem is the conversion from MTS, and possibly FCP reading it as interlaced.
