Regular programme – same weekly titles
Can anyone think of the easiest way of making a project that can be used again and again for a weekly show where the “motion titles” and the open and closing themes remain in approximately the same place each week.
Each week a “talking head” is edited for content and time, but the lower thirds remain in much the same places each week. They are approximately every minute, but the exact timing has to be altered slightly depending on what the “talking head” is doing or saying.
On version 7, I would have the titles on a track which was locked. If I needed to nudge a title’s position to the left or right, I would unlock, move it, then lock again. Very quick to achieve.
In X it seems harder, but I am probably missing an easy way.
By the way, putting the lower thirds in a compound clip is awful. (You can’t see the results easily and the timeline loses its place when entering the compound to slip the lower third along to the left or right)

I’d consider setting the project up as a compound clip in the event browser. Each week edit the compound clip into a project and then break apart the clip items. It won’t be locked but it will give you a base project to start with each time.

Edit the base project with titles etc in the right place with a dummy interview in place.
Edit the new talking head in a compound clip (as per what the guys at Ripple suggest)
Drop the talking head compound clip over the dummy interview and do a replace edit – should work :-))

If you need to revert back to the original components of the compound clip – say to apply a different effect, change the text of a title, or add a new piece of video – simply select the compound clip and choose Clip > Break Apart Clip Items.
