You can’t open old FCP projects in FCPX.

Can you export and import EDLs?

hmm… what is an EDL? i am really just trying to convert an fcp file to .mov through fcpx… any suggestions? do i need to download fcp 7 to be able to do this proplerly? i only need to recover two projects, no longer than nine minutes each.

There is no way to do this. FCP7 is not a downloadable app. You would need to take your FCP project together with all the media needed to make it up. They could open it in FCP and export a QuickTime movie for you to use in FCPX.

You take the project file together with all its associated media to someone who has FCP7.
