  FCP X now working natively with XDCAM EX?

  Hello,

  Just read that Apple released an update for FCP X which allows FCP X to work natively with XDCAM EX media: https://gizmoc.com/apple-releases-long-awaited-final-cut-pro-x-motion-compressor-update-and-proapple-quicktime-codecs-update-fcpx-30-day-free-trial-added/

  Has anyone downloaded the update and tried it? Is it working well with XDCAM EX media? I am just about to pull the trigger on upgrading my ancient FCP 6/FCS 2 system (running on my Power PC G5 1.8 Ghz) and buying FCP X (with a 3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 iMac) and knowing that the update is good and working properly would be reassuring.

  I appreciate any input…

  That is announcing the .1 update. There’s already been a .2. I think that webpage is old, although is listed from 2 days ago.

  You have to rewrap the footage in .mov using the Sony transfer software.. It does not work with the MXF files natively.

  The .01 update broke the import go my cameras H624 files (POV.HD) which was fine with V10

  It crashed very time it saw one of these files.

  After escalating a bug via support to the engineers .02 fcX now reads and plays these files again.

  So they have changes the way some .mov files are handled. ( this “fix” was not documented.)

  Now they need to stop Motion from crashing when it sees these files 😉
  (I suspect this has similar problem, are the two apps developed by a completely different team in isolation?)
