  Text Background

  I’m working on FCPX to add subtitles to my movies.
  I’m using a text title, but I need to add 80% gray background, so that the texts are more visible.
  The only way I could find to do that, was to add a rectangular shape below the title, but I want its size to be adjusted according to the length of the texts.
  I believe there was an attribute for it in the previous version, but couldn’t find it on FCPX.

  Is it possible?

  Following up the issue:

  I’ve managed to the colored background that I wanted by using a clone layer with Motion 5.
  1. Open FCPX Title project.
  2. Make a clone layer of the text layer.
  3. Add effect ‘Basic Frame (note: Translated from Japanese effect name, so it could be different.)’ to the clone layer.
  4. Set the width of the frame line to 100.

  It looks ok, but it only covers inside of the text frame, that means no paddings.
  Still appreciate help.

  Hi Akira

  Your idea was a very good one – here is my version of it which I think should give you all the control you need.

  You can scale and offset the position of the box, choose its colour and its opacity.

  Do let me know if you can think of any improvements.
