    Unfortunately you can’t. As mentioned in the manual:

    Important: Create custom roles and subroles with care. Custom roles (and the names of custom roles) cannot be edited or removed from the roles list. However, you can change the role assignments of clips at any time.”

    Yes, you can’t delete, but you can make new ones and reassign.

    I have yet to fully delve in to this theory, but it might be possible to simply reassign everything, then quit FCPX. If there are no clips assigned to those roles you don’t want, I think they might not load in FCPX.

    There’s a certain dance to make this happen as Roles I have created simply have disappeared (much to my liking as I didn’t want them). It might change event to event/project to project.

    I have to explore this a bit further so take it with a grain of salt.
