  • FCPX – Render (?) Issue with photos

Posted by Ben Kayam on September 24, 2011 at 4:14 am

    Hi,

I’m using the new FCPX and the issue I have is probably related to render or I’m headed to a wrong way.
When I add pictures to my timeline before and after the movie clips it seems that the whole render thing is getting out of control; pictures from the start are displayed in the end and not according to their real timeline position.
when I play the movie on the full screen just to test, it seems that everything is ok,
    I tried render all.
I tried deleting all the render files and re render all.
everything seems to be ok until I export the movie and then … well .. you have to see it .. it’s like the export has it’s own render life and the timeline is just a suggestion 🙂
    what am I doing wrong?

Can this be reproduced in any way? If you start a new project and mix video and photos? What happens if you create a new project and copy everything from the old one?

    Thanks for the reply.
I’ve tried doing that, copying the project to a new project and it happens again.
I think it’s something with the photos, i’m importing them from iPhoto and it seems that everything is fine, just in the end i can see the bad result.
    any ideas?

I’m baffeled. I have tried to reproduce the problem myself without any luck.

Where are the photos? Are they on the primary storyline? Or mixed around? Do the same happens if you make a new project with _only_ one video clip and one photo?

One video clip and one photo it’s working fine, when i’m taking 40+ pictures and adding it then it happens.
i’m taking the photos from iPhoto.

I’m sorry. I can’t reproduce the problem on this machine. Just tried a 20+ minute video clip and added 50 photos from iPhoto placed in different ways and timecodes on different time lines. But it rendered just fine.

Sorry i don’t have any solution for you.
