Final Cut Pro was seemingly working fine, for two hours, then I lost the ability to do the undo function (it was greyed out), and I restarted it, only find that the past two hours of work were lost.

    Thanks a lot.

I know there’s nothing I can do, and this problem is relatively small to all the things going on in the world, and I’ll get over it, but still. This sucks.

Was this FCP X or 7?

The FCPX 10.0.1 release notes said that they’d fixed some of the autosave bugs. Can you confirm if this data loss occurred with the newer version?

    My software:
Pro Maintenance Tools – Tools to keep Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Pro X, Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro running smoothly and fix problems when they arise
Pro Media Tools – Edit QuickTime chapters and metdata, detect gamma shifts, edit markers, watch renders and more
    More tools…

No, I DIDN’T get the new update yet. It’s Final Cut Pro X, 10.0.0

Happened to me also once. Lost work from 11pm to 2 am that day. Sucks.
But the update hopefully fixed this and I now instead of saving just check if undo works 😉

I had the same issue. Lost more work than I care to admit. Since then I’ve been shutting down FCP X when I would normally be saving. Cumbersome and annoying. Why can’t I be allowed to save my projects? I like autosave as a safety net but what’s the problem if I want to manage my own save points? Going to search for the update now.
