Modifying title presets
Posted by Jason Jenkins on September 14, 2011 at 4:55 pmI’m using the title preset “drifting” and I would like to slow down the movement. I can’t seem to find any keyframes or parameters to modify. I can make it a compound clip and retime it, which looks fine -but is there a better way to do this?

September 14, 2011 at 5:02 pmDo you have motion 5 installed?
If you do you can right click the effect in the effects browser and choose “open copy in motion” and modify there.

September 14, 2011 at 5:16 pmI haven’t purchased Motion 5 yet. It sounds like I could actually create a speed control for this preset in Motion 5, which would then show up in FCPX. How difficult is that? I’ve never used Motion; lots of After Effects, but no Motion.

September 14, 2011 at 5:24 pmPersonally I find Motion very easy to use. But then again I have been using it awhile.
This particular effect has only 4 keyframes on each bit of text. So nice and simple to edit.
Let me know if there is something in particular you need and I could modify it for you if it’s urgent.
Cheers,

September 14, 2011 at 5:26 pmAnother thought, you can just make the text effect longer in your timeline and that will slow the timing down, if that is the sort of thing you are after.

Very kind of you to offer. I’ve got what I need for now with the retiming. I’m just trying to wrap my head around the workflow as I go. Thanks for the help!
