There used to be a free effect that would blur or make a mosaic of whatever area of the screen you need.
I think it was called Andy’s plugins.

is there a free spot blur effect for FCP X?

There is a filter built in to FCPX called “Censor”, it’s under the “Stylize” heading, does this do what you want?

I think I saw Andy Mees make one using Motion 5 at the LAFCPUG meeting last week. Seems very easy to do…

Lol. Wasn’t me … bus yes, it would be very easy in new FCPX but, as noted, not necessary as there’s already the “Censor” filter built-in.

    Cheers

Here is a link to one I cooked up in motion.

An alternative to the built in censor effect with options for blur, mosiac, outline and highlight.

    Cheers

Ha, sorry Andy – it was another Andy and I got confused. It was Andy NEIL (https://web.mac.com/andy.neil/resume/index.html)
