  • Moving custom generators with projects/events?

I constantly work on two computers: my laptop while I’m at home or on the road and my Mac Pro at work. Until now I have not had any issue opening projects I have been working on in one computer with the other. However, today I tried this with a project I had created a custom generator for, and to my dismay found that the generator is apparently not stored on the event HDD, so when I tried opening the project on my desktop all my titles were missing.

Does anybody know a way to transfer titles published on one computer to another, so that they open on both machines? I tried manually publishing the file (I have it saved as a Motion project) but FCP didn’t recognize it as the same generator, even though it was named the same thing. This could become a major problem. 🙁

This never happened with FCP legacy either. If you didn’t have the plugin on the destination machine, you had to go get it.

Perhaps you can sync your two motion templates folders?

I had the same thing happen to me.. I just took the entire motion template folder from my mac pro and copied it to a thumb drive and replaced the motion templates folder on my laptop.. Worked great!

    Thanks in advance!
