  FCP X The Sky’s the Limit

  FCP X custom effect preset to help you create sky gradients. It has been built so it has best effect for horizon type shots. It helps you place a nice grad filter type effect on the sky.

  It may have limited use, but hopefully it’s useful to someone.

  FCP X BG The Sky’s the Limit

  – 30+ gradient presets to choose from (built from motions shape gradient templates)
  – Gradient Opacity
  – Gradient Blend Mode (though has been built to best take advantage of multiply blend mode)
  – adjustable scale and rotation

  Extract to a folder of your choosing inside /user name / movies / motion templates / Effects
  (e.g extract to a new folder called “Custom Effects”)

  Hi Brendon

  very useful effect. thanks

  However having tested it I’m getting 4 frames of just the effect at the end of the clip on the timeline. I chose Deep blue sky ( Multiply blend mode )

  This is not at the end of the clip but regardless where it it trimmed or cut to the 4 frames occur.

  If I put a dissolve on the cut there are no blue frames.

  The way round this issue is to cut to a connected clip.

  Hi Mark,

  Thanks for the heads up.

  Looks like it was an error by me. The effect source clip was trimmed 4 frames short of 10 seconds (fat finger syndrome by myself!)

  That’s great i’ll replace the one i’ve imported. I did look at your handywork in Motion but couldn’t see anything amiss.

  What a load of layers you’ve placed in there.

  I managed to make my first effect today and successfully publish it. It was colour corrector and not very good but I felt a sense of utter satisfaction at having joined the fcp x effects club. I’ve now trashed it.
