    Hi,
I’m having a problem with the composition length in after effects. I’ve a composition set to 1 second that I’ve embedded in another composition. The animation is supposed to ping pong via an expression back and forth continuously in the background but everytime it reaches the end of the timeline it disappears for a frame and then returns. In the time controls I hit the jump to end of timeling button but for some reason if I hit the next frame button the slider bar will jump one more frame and there’s nothing there. This happens to every composition I have and happens on different computers. I’m sure it’s a very easy thing to fix but I’m starting to lose the plot a bit here.

    Thanks a mil

The last frame of your precomp is not in fact a frame at all. By default, compositions start at frame 0 so the last frame in a 1 second composition (PAL in my case) is frame 24. If you are using your expression applied to time remapping you should set a keyframe one frame before the second time remapping keyframe then delete the existing second keyframe. This is a little gotcha when time remapping precomps, it doesn’t happen for footage files.
