I spent some time this past week with Ripple Training for FCP X. It was the well worth it. After seeing examples of the magnetic timeline being used properly and how many of the less obvious functions of X work I am very impressed. Some of the posters in this forum have come up with approaches to doing things that are very creative but totally unnecessary because those things are already very well implemented. They may not be obvious but rarely is software of any complexity “obvious”. One thing I will say, X is definitely not “a toy”.
I am not trying to sell Ripple Training to anyone. That just happens to be the one I have used so far in addition to the very useful tutorials right here on the COW. I will be looking at others because training is a cheap investment in your livelihood.

I would add the free ones from Izzy to the list. I’ve found doing multiple teachers useful as each one adds “here’s something I found”.

Yes, don’t forget Izzy, or Larry or Michael Wohl.

As mentioned each have their own take on it.

So I tell myself that there’s no excuse for not getting up to speed really quickly.

I’ve found this forum great because most posts are dealing with real issues that people have come up against as they do their first projects on the software.

For me the real learning will take place when I commit a whole job to FCP X rather than experimenting with bits and pieces.
