Best Storyboard Software?
What do you guys think?
Looking for something smooth and easy to use, ideally where I can wacom in frames and get the timing just right so I have a real good idea of the final rhythm for commercials and music videos…

In my mind, there are only a few choices. It sounds like you want/need some kind of simple animation and timing.
For 2D/Drawing you’re looking either at Adobe Flash (although known for web development, it’s a powerful animation tool that you can export out to a video file) or Adobe After Effects.
If you want something 3D I suggest Frame Forge Pre-Vis Core https://www.frameforge3d.com/Products/Core-Version/ . Its about $400, but I use it on most, if not all, of my time sensitive shoots like tv commercials. You can scout your location, measure it out and rebuild it in 3D so you know your lensing, camera placement, blocking, and so on. Animation is fundamental, with the ability to export tweened frames between the major storyboard frames. Super powerful and I’ve only had to use a full blown 3D program like Maya for really large scale scenes or projects.

Some people use Poser for this, or even Google Sketch-up. These are less well-optimized for figuring framing and actual lens settings and such, but they can still help work out camera angles and relative positions on a virtual set, faster and cheaper than rehearsing in real world spaces.

I like storyboard quick. Helps me get my point across fast. Works for me esp since I cant draw. Have you tried this one?

Hi all,
I am a computer student and I am unfamiliar person to film making world, but as my PhD thesis I want to make a software for automatically generating animation from text, so I am getting familiar with film producing related concepts.
I’ll be so thankful if anyone can help me:
are these mentioned softwares of producing storyboard used to create any famous films or animation?
I mean could these softwares have been REALLY useful in film/animation making procedure?
Do famous film/animation directors use theses softwares to produce storyboards for their products or they prefer designers produce storyboards manually for them?thank for your help in advance 🙂

Storyboards are actually not animated – they’re most similar to comic books. I believe what you thought of is called animatics and yes, softwares you mentioned are capable of handling the task but they’re much more complex so not the best choice.
