  Is this “Apple Talk” yet? re: the HomePod

  The sound quality well done, but why won’t it connect to 802.1x? And why can’t it be a bluetooth enabled gadget? Bizarre decision.

  Does anyone know of a hack around the 802.1x? HomePod requires WPA/WPA2. I set up my mac to share its ethernet–is that the best solution?

  I can answer the first part of your question. No it’s not Apple Talk yet.

  As a user of Bluetooth speakers, they are OK for audio only applications as the delay makes them out of sync with video/ sound monitoring. So I can understand that Apple might prefer you use wifi to avoid the delay. The web pages say it connects automagically with an iOS device.
