Old School Codecs
Posted by David Mathis on December 11, 2018 at 7:39 pmI came across this today in a Final Cut Pro X user group:
No date was mentioned but an update for Final Cut is scheduled for the first half of next year.

December 11, 2018 at 9:00 pmThanks, but you are a bit late to the party. Scroll down a few posts ☺ And BTW – it’s also a number of current codecs affected, while a lot of “old school” codecs continue to be supported.

Late? This list was published yesterday by Apple.
This is no where near as bad as I thought it would be. It sounds like we will be able to optimize the media right in fcpx if we need to.
Meanwhile I’ll start reencoding all my 320×240 Sorensen 3 masters from 1996! ????

Isn’t it the same as this:

December 13, 2018 at 1:01 amI just looked at the published date at the bottom of the support page. Is it possible it was edited yesterday?

December 13, 2018 at 6:30 pmThis type of timing stuff has caught me a couple of times with posts.
It’s hard to keep track of everything let alone know which group has already discussed what. I know my forum participation has been WAY down lately, and I’m only just now coming back to these communities after a huge 4th quarter of focused work.
Plus, since Apple pushed out revised messaging about their earlier “deprecation message” it’s not surprising that a new round of notifications are reaching people – some of whom will likely have missed the original message.
Business as usual, in my mind.
