I am installing High Sierra on a SSD rather than the HDD which has Sierra at the moment.
There were some issues trying to install the new OS yet all seems to be working fine at the moment. I clicked on the Restart Now button only to get that beach ball. After a second download all seems to be working fine. Granted this was just launched today so a few glitches were not out of the question. Looks like the OS installed just fine and will post should any updgrade demon gremlins pop up like weeds in a flower bed. -
Great. Let us know. Of course, if that SSD is a third party drive instead of an Apple-branded drive, it won’t be APFS-formatted.

“That doesn’t seem to be true for me. I replaced my late 2013 MacPro with a third party SSD. It’s Kingston from MCETech and it’s APFS.

Interesting. I was going by the info that Apple and various reviewers were disseminating before the launch.

my 2012 Macbook Pro with OWC ssd drive is now running on High Sierra….

But did the drive reformat to APFS? That is the question.

I also have an OWC SSD which has APFS status.

Is it possible something has changed in the initial launch? I am going to look in Disk Utility to see what file system the SSD is using.
