OT Affinity Photo
Posted by Don Walker on June 29, 2017 at 6:14 pm2 simple questions: does anyone use 100% for their image editing needs in conjunction with FCPX? Does it play well with Photoshop generated PSD’s?

June 29, 2017 at 8:22 pmIt’s a great app and the most full-featured of the several Photoshop alternatives for the Mac. It is largely – but not 100% – compatible with PSD files, if they are complex with unflattened layer effects. So if you receive or need to deliver basic PSDs from/to a client, it will be fine. If you only need to do your own work, then it will probably be a complete replacement.
FWIW – Affinity Photo for the iPad is also dynamite. Right now, it’s probably the most sophisticated iPad app out there.

June 29, 2017 at 10:09 pmA handy little video comparing Affinity with Photoshop and generally deciding that Affinity is a really good way to go:

June 30, 2017 at 4:17 amYup, I use Affinity Photo for any image editing I need to do. I have even picked up Affinity
Designer for the very few times I need to do that type of work. Great programs and
pretty inexpensive. Of course I’m one of the few people who can’t stand the subscription
thing (which means no Adobe products for me) so you may want to take what I say
with a grain of salt 🙂Gabe Strong
