Subscription Based Purchases?
Posted by Hugh Haynie on March 23, 2017 at 8:55 pmI’m been hearing rumours for close to a year that FCPX will move to a subscription-based model. Any truth to this?

March 23, 2017 at 9:21 pmAnything is possible, but I don’t see Apple doing this unless they do something like make X cross platform. They are a high margin hardware company and X requires a hardware sale in order to use it (Hackintoshes are few and far between) so that keeps them happy.

March 23, 2017 at 10:13 pmFor those looking for some back story, I found a relevant blog post from Alex4D.

Long story short, last year Apple changed the rules in the app store to allow for subscriptions so people started speculating at all the possibilities because Apple.
There is also a more general interview with Phil Schiller from The Verge where, “He suggests many enterprise apps could move to subscription, and that professional apps that require “a lot of maintenance of new features and versions” would be a good fit.”
Just your usual ‘kremlinology’.
