I watched it this morning. Just to clarify, Katie is an additional editor on “Hail Caesar”, but Ethan and Joel Coen are the editors. (They weren’t there.) They have a very idiosyncratic way of working, but she functions as their right-hand person in the cutting room.
Also on the panel was Vashi Nedomansky, who is an LA editor that’s been working with Adobe and film editors as a workflow consultant. Basically getting Avid/FCP editors up to speed on Premiere Pro.
It was a very good discussion if you want some idea of what they were going through. There were a number of pointers as to how best to work in a PPro shared environment and how to optimize large projects.

There was also a strong indication about how hard Adobe is going after the feature market, how closely they are working with editors in that market to optimize Ppro for that workflow, and how much communication there is between Adobe and it’s more high profile users.

This has been true of Adobe for a while. Mike Kanfer (the Adobe moderator) is a former LA VFX guy who’s been the Adobe liaison (“digital evangelist”) to the Hollywood community for a number of years. Adobe has very direct interaction with filmmakers, whereas Apple is less so. I think that basically stopped after Apple helped the Coens on “Intolerable Cruelty”, which preceded “Cold Mountain”. By the time that rolled around Apple’s support was (and has been from what I can tell) at an arm’s length through consultants and resellers. The advantage to Premiere Pro users is that the tweaks Adobe adds in special fixes and builds for these projects gets integrated as actual product features into the builds that all CC costumers eventually get.
