June 12, 2009 at 7:25 amYou *may* be able to run AE 5.5 under Rosetta, but it won’t be quick. If I cast my mind way back when, I think that V5.5 was the first OS X version of After Effects.
If you’re spending the money on a new Macbook Pro, you’d be well off to consider upgrading to the latest After Effects as well. You’ll get a lot of value for your $299.
Just IMHO, of course.

June 12, 2009 at 2:17 pmhi ben thanks for the help…now I have after effects 5.5 running now and it came on the mac when I bought it from a friend….can I upgrade from 5.5? I thought i could only upgrade from 6.0 and above…I also am not 100 percent sure that this copy of 5.5 is truly legit with serial number which I am sure I need to provide while upgrading…will it work?
thanks

June 12, 2009 at 8:14 pmYou’re absolutely right about the upgrade. It’s V6.0 & above. And you do need to provide a legit serial from an earlier product when you install the upgrade.
