I have a silhouette of a pigeon flying on one layer. It uses the TINT effect to color it blue. I want to duplicate the layer many times, so a flock of blue pigeons fly by.

Anticipating the client might want to change the color, I’d like to use a control layer, probably a solid, with Expressions to control all the layers’ color simultaneously.

    How would one do that?

(I could do a precomp mask, but now I’m just interested in controlling the TINT effect with an expression, which solution isn’t leaping out at me. Also, w/a precomp I’d have to jump back and forth, what a PITA.)

Sounds to me like you just need to use an adjustment layer. This goes above all your other layers. Apply the tint to the adjustment layer and it affects all the layers below it.

It’s only work if you’d rather be doing something else…
