    Hello,

I have searched this forum and those on other sites for a problem like mine, and although i’ve come close, I havent yet found a match. I am very new to after effects, and on importing a file into AE, there seems to be a loss of quality. The resolution stays the same, but the image becomes grainy. If I render the comp immediately after importing, without making any changes, the original file will always be a much cleaner image. I’ve read that there is always some measure of quality loss when transfering dv, but this seems a bit too much.

The files i am working on are AVI 720×576 (pal dv widescreen).
As far as i know there is no compression, I’ve only recently uploaded them onto my computer from my Video Camera using Sony Vegas.

I would really appreciate some guidance!

    Thank you.

Thanks a million for the reply and the link. I’ve been mainly using online tutorials to learn about AE so its handy to have a reference guide also.

I realised shortly after posting, that the footage was actually vertically stretched in the comp, and that this is due to only one field of the interlaced footage being shown. This is standard as far as I know, and is remedeed when rendered. My rendered footage however seems to show the same, vertically stretched display with visible banding. I’m certain I’ve got the right PAR and field order, but on further reading of the guide i’m sure something obvious will pop out at me!

    Thanks again.
