  how much ram do I need, and export questions

  ok so i just got after effects, and i’m having a couple issues. if there’s a tutorial or thread that answers all these questions, please point me in that direction. i tried the faq, and some tutorials but i need more help.

  first off, i’m running a laptop with an intel core duo processor t2300 1.66ghz and 2 gigs of ram, which i thought would be enough, but i can’t preview my compositions and it’s horrendous. i’m having to try to line up my clips by using the “preview audio” function and, yeah… it’s rough.

  then when i export the projects, the beginning is really choppy and the sound is gappy and then it gets better after a few seconds. is there a setting i should fix? i read about “multiple frames at once” but can’t find that option anywhere.

  i’m really sorry, but i don’t see how to edit my original post so here’s some more info.
  i opened the task manager while working in ae and it’s only using like 850k of my memory and less than 60 of my cpu. i set the affinity to both processors, and priority to high, what else can i do to make it use my laptop to it’s fullest?
