We have a client asking for screen captures of software in a show that will be created in After Affects. They want to show curser action as different screens move through the screen and be readable. Since the featured software is not available yet they will be doing the screen capturing which presents a workflow challenge and leads to my question, what is the best capture workflow to present to the client?

The workflow I have come up with and proposed is to have them:
get a hold of a larger high rez PC monitor
set the PC screen to the highest resolution
use Camtesia Studio to capture the full software window and curser movements
export from Camtesia as QuickTime Photo-Jpeg movies

Any input on this workflow would be greatly appreciated.

    BTW-We are working at 720p 29.97fps.

    Dave,

    Thanks for the response.

My thought was that we capture as close to 29.97 as possible for use in a 29.97 AE comp for smoother curser movement. I’m with you on the editing part, there is always a pause here and there.

BTW – I have picked up a lot of good tips from your responses to other posted questions in the past.
