  AE to FCP aspect resolution problems

  Hi all,
  I am having trouble with AE & FCP. I am making a DVD using motion graphics created in AE 7.
  I need to get the animations into FCP 5 to edit and then make a DVD in DVD Studio Pro.

  I used the preset NTSC DV and the D1/DV NTSC (9.0) for the sequence setting in AE.

  When I view the animation in QT the size is correct. When I import into FCP the QT mov is distorted. It’s squashing the sides in.

  I must be doing something wrong in FCP when I import.
  Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?

  Are you previewing your animation with pixel aspect ratio correction on in AE? It is off by default in AE and QT but on by default in FCP.

  Thanks for your help. I was not previewing with the pixel aspect ratio correction on in AE. So I turned it on and there was my squashed image. I changed my solids pix asp ratios to ‘square’. Looked correct.

  I exported and imported into FCP. The same squashed thing is still going on in FCP.
  The only way I have been able to make any of this look right is to place ALL my animation into a sequence FIRST then change the settings to square. Then everything looks right.

  This can’t be the right way to achieve this. If I add the mov again from the bin (even though it is the same mov) it will be squashed again. (right next to the same mov that is correct)

  I guess I need to know what the settings are in AE to set up a comp, export and FCP sequence settings to simply make a DVD. I’m just not getting the settings.

  Any more help would be greatly appreciated.
