    Hey Everyone,
I’m still kinda new to HD compositing, so please bear with me. I’m working with a Kona LHE, DVCPRO HD 720 p60. My renders out of AE are looking washed out. In a previous thread, it was suggested that I change the color management settings to “HD 701”, by which I think the poster meant HD 709, since 701 isn’t an option. And so I’ve got it set to 8 bit, HDTV (rec 709) color management on.

Out of final cut, I export out a clip with bars. I bring the clip into ae and set to interpret footage HDTV (rec 709). I render it out with the native codec, DVCPRO HD, 720 p60, drop the render into final cut and it looks totally washed out (on the monitor, via the kona). I’ve fooled around with all kinds of other color management settings to to avail. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

Try turning off color management, and instead check the box that says Use Legacy After Effects Quicktime Gamma Adjustments.

    Hey Joey,
I’ll try that one. Just wondering – why do you think it needs the legacy gamma?
