  • Jagged edges during AE moves

Posted by Dave Blaire on May 9, 2008 at 1:29 pm

I’ve noticed when I bring text up quickly the edges get very stair-steppy while it’s moving. I’ve tried field rendering, frame rendering, putting motion blur on, and it’s always like that. I’m using a DV/NTSC Composition, and it happens when I render out as Animation or DVPRO50. Is there a way around this?

    Thanks,

    Dave

It happens no matter what the background. Here’s a link to an example. This was a field rendered Animation.

Here’s a better example. The graphic was rendered as an Animation with alpha and brought in to a DVPRO50 timeline.

No, I’m using a Sony HR Trinitron monitor. In fact, you see the problem much more on the CRT than you do on the flat screen. If you download the quicktime from the yousendit link (the second one I sent) and bring it in to FCP and watch it on a CRT, you’ll see what I’m talking about.

Do you mean you weren’t able to download the file? I just tried and it seems to be working. Here’s the link again. The file is called jagged edges 2.mov

I’m using text created in in AE with just a simple scale effect from 0 to 100 in about 1 second, no other effects on it.

Were you ever able to download that example?

Did you click the “Download Now” button? I just went to the link and it’s working.
