    I am trying to render a large project. However, my normal startup disk is too full to receive the file. So in midstream it quits. So I want to change the scratch disk to an external drive. However, in my Render settings window, I change the Output to my new disk but it still places it on my FULL prmiary drive, how do I change this?

    Im on a mac.

    This doesn’t sound like a ‘scratch disk’ to me, it sounds more like an issue of where you’re rendering your final output.

    The output directory is changed in the Render Queue on the right side of the window where it says “Output to:”. There should be a part that says “YourCompName.mov” or something like that. If you click on it you will be prompted to enter a new name for the render (not necessary in your case) and also choose a directory to render to.
