Hi, I recently got a JVC Everio GZ-MG27E HDD Camcorder and it’s great, but when I try to import the movie files (.MOD extension), After Effects says the file type is not supported.
Renaming the files to .mpg won’t work either.
Premiere Pro allows me to import the files, but I need to edit them in After Effects and if I render them as .avi files in premiere, it looks terrible.

    Can someone help me?
My system: Windows Vista Business 32 Bit
    Pentium IV 3.2 GhZ
    1028 MB RAM
    ATI RADEON X740XL
    After Effects CS3
    Premiere Pro CS3.

    Any help would be great..

I have this problem too (with a different JVC model) and the ony solution I could find was to export them as MPG files from Premiere Elements (can’t afford Pro!) and import them to AE. Haven’t found a direct import plugin for AE.

I found away around this problem,
Windows Media Player and Windows Movie Maker
have no problems with .MOD files.

I import the file to Windows Movie Maker and then
save it from there as WMV file with good quality
maintained. Then this WMV is accepted by Adobe After
    Effect.

This is not realy a good workaround. you will loose quality
There must be a plugin to open it into AE.

if you dont want to loose quality you can ofcourse export it to a uncompressed avi or targa sequence.

    holy Cow!
