  60i vs 30P vs 24P

  I’m using a new PMW EX1 to shoot a feature documentary. End use may be theatrical and certainly TV/DVD/Blu-ray. I plan to edit in FCP. I’ve been out of production since the late 90’s and all the HD formats are new to me. Coming up to speed fast. Does anyone have any thoughts about the advantages and disadvantages of 60i, 30P and 24P?

  Hey everyone,

  First, apologies for hijacking David’s thread, but as I’m about to venture seriously into the world of (mixed media [hand drawn, 3d, AE stuff]) animation, I’m also battling with the FPS question. Composing of it all will take place in AE and I’m working at 1280×720 resolution.

  Thus in order to avoid a huge let down by doing something that’ll be unusable in the future, which would be the safest fps to go with when you’re planning to get the piece on DVD and possibly on TV (I’m in the PAL region) rather than just having it on the Internet? Or does it even matter when actual film is not involved during the creation process?

  So which should I bet on; 23.97, 24 or 25?

  Any help is appreciated,
