I created a photo montage using after effects. I have three different compositions each done to a different song about 4-5mins. I want to combine the three compositions into one long presentation. What would be the best way to do this. Can I prerender each composition then put the three together in one composition to output? Or is it better to render each composition on its own, and put it together in FCP? I am thinking of placing the project on a DVD for the final presentation. I am afraid of what might happen if I try to output a file this long in after effects. I want to keep the highest quality possible. Everything was created in after effects, it would only be brought into FCP to export if needed.

    Thanks

    John

heey, very simple. make a final comp wich is as long as the three comps together. then pre-compose (if you don’t know what this is and how, see the After effects help) each of your other comps and then you can put them in your final composition. (copy past, or select move to final comp when you precompose it, i thought that is also one option)

so your final comp is 15minutes long. that’s gonna fit on a dvd, play with the export settings, or search this forum for best settings for DVD output.

put them all in one comp as i described, you can make changes in every seperate comp and it will update in your final comp!!.
then render your final comp and your done 🙂

okey you’ve got a point there. on a DVD mayby it’s easier to just split them, and make some fancy menu for it 🙂

Thank you very much Ultimate Bart and Dave.

I feel much better on how to approach exporting my project. I think I will try to export animation files and import them into a 8 bit uncompressed sequence in FCP. Then I will export a self-contained movie for encoding in Episode to MPEG-2. I hope I don’t loose to much quality in the process.
