No audio in composition!
I import footage that has audio (and a waveform in projects panel). When I drag to the composition it no longer has audio nor a waveform. This happens on 2 computers. Am I missing something? I’m up against a deadline! ahhh!

Sounds odd, but maybe AE is sensitive to audio type.
In a pinch you could seperate the audio and Convert them to AIFF or WAV (AE likes these) and import to the same comp. There are lots of 3rd party programs to convert audio, Quictime, and a fav of mine for PC folks… Vdub.

That’s exactly what I ended up doing, though it’s only a workaround. Actually, the free gom player has audio ripping capabilities – that’s what I used.
I captured the video using the media capture tool in Vista. The video and audio play fine in any player, and it exists in the project panel. It’s only when I drag it to the timeline that it drops the audio.
Is there a setting I’m missing? A codec? Usually AE tells you if it can’t import the audio…

When you double click it in the Project window, will it play the audio there?

No, and yes, audio is selected in composition > preview.

I dunno. Can you tell what type of compression the audio uses?

Hi, I got the same problem. Source is a .mov file (plays normally on Quicktime), filmed with a photo camera Panasonic DMZ-L5.
I extracted de audio using Adobe Media Encoder to PCM (Wav); surprisingly, if I import only the wav file it also shows a muted audio track when dragged to the composition.It is the very first time this happens to me with this camera, I never had problems before. Seems something related to drivers, but as far as I know Quicktime should be must than enough to handle .mov files.
My rig is a Intel i7 with 8GB of RAM, running Windows 7 Ultimate x64, fresh install so all programs are at last version / patch.
