  • Pen tool – straight line after curved – HOW??

    Hi

I’m using AE CS3 for the first time. I am trying to create path for a mask to follow. Some of the path is curved, but I having problems creating a straight line immediately after a curved line.

    Here is what happens:

I create a curved line, then i add another vertex by clicking once. The resulting line is curved. I use the convert vertex tool and the newest vertex is converted but the line remains curved when I want it straight.

    How do I solve this??

    HEy,
so what it sounds like to me is you make a curved vertex between 2 points and then you want the next one to be staight but it becomes curved also?
if this is the problem, try this.
click in 2 vertex points and give it a good curve, (like a C) when you create the curve you should see 2 vertext curve tabs that you pulled out? With the pen tool still selected go to the tab that is in the direction that you pulled. your pen tool should turn into a convert tool when you place it over the end of this tab. Now pull that single tab all the way back to the vetext point it extends from. Only do this with this one tab that is in the direction that you pulled. not the other one. Now create a third vertext point and it should be straight.

    Vertext slaughter
