I created a cool transition in AE7 using two different effects and keyframed some properties for those effects. Is there a way to save and export with alpha as an avi so I can use in my editing program? I use Canopus Edius 3. I am aware of saving animation presets within AE. I want to use this as a transition between two clips in Edius. Thanks in advance.

[Dave LaRonde] “You’ll need to select a codec that supports alpha channels”

You can just render your composition out using Composition>Pre-Render. This will give you a lossless AVI with an alpha. However, you may want to check in the Render Queue before you render for the correct Alpha mode for your NLE (you probably want Straight unless your NLE has an option for removing premultiplication).
