    Shhhh. Nobody knows but us.

I’ve actually been using this software for real-world, over-the-air broadcast work.

Yes! I said it’s been broadcast.

The average viewer doesn’t know what’s happening, but quietly there’s a revolution going on in the background.

    Watch it in HD.

This was fun. I got to use motion, photoshop, and fcx. All of our editing at work is on towers in dark rooms. Once I ingest my footage, I can take my laptop down to starbucks and edit in a place with a window, and fresh coffee.

My next few edits force me to edit back in the dark room, on the dark software (Sony Xpri), but I’ve got a story coming up that one of our reporters shot in shanghai on an hdv camcorder. (and he shot it well, even for a reporter) The footage is already on my hd and I’m ready for it.

I encourage other people to post links to their work.

That’s a great piece Mark – Very lively – How long did it take you to put it all together? And all in FCPX?

Thx… we generally get a day and a half for a piece like this. I may have spent a little more time tweaking it, so I’m sure it was more like two work days. I’m still adding in extra time for the learning curve, but otherwise I’m pumping it out.

Yes, all in x, using photoshop and motion as well for some fun effects.

Knowing the issues and workarounds definitely helps. Not as much as an update would help.

Since we still archive on tape, I have to do my little dance where I turn tracks on and off and export various aiff files to get my audio streams. That’ll get fixed as well in the impending update.

Yeah! And the audio sounds pretty decent. Did you mix it yourself in FCPX or did you shell out the extra $300 for autoduck OMF export?

No OMF. All mixed in FCX. I’m not really an audio guy, but I just try to keep the levels balanced, and select the right music from the production library we use.

I’m trying to dive into the logic effects that FCX comes with. There’s a lot of power in there.

With great power comes great responsibility.

I’m still trying to figure out how to use the logic effects. I have no idea where they are. I’m sure there are tutorials online though.

In the audio filters tab under “logic effects”.

the trick is to hit the little icon in the effects window and it opens up a very cool graphical interface that allows you to control the effect with virtual dials and sliders, and hear the effect adjustments in real time.

I still miss my normalization gain. ;-(
